Lecture 15.2 Example of 2nd Inversion of Slider - Crank Mechanism : Quick - Return Mechanism

2nd Inversion of Slider - Crank Mechanism : Quick Return Mechanism (used in Shapers)

Shortest link 2 (Crank) is fixed

OR

Frame [ Revised 1st Link] = Shortest link [ Crank - Originally link - 2 ]

Input Link / Driving Crank = Originally [ link 3 - coupler ]

Coupler = Originally [link 4 - Slider]

Output link = Driven Slotted Lever = Originally [link 1 -frame]

Original Slider as Revised Coupler OR Revised Motion transfer link ( Revised link - 3) slides within the slot of  Revised  link - 4 ( Driven Slotted Lever ) that was Originally Link - 1, namely, frame.

Note :

(1) Rotary motion of Driving Crank [Revised 2nd Link] identified as Input Motion is transformed into identified Intermediate Motion of reciprocation / sliding of Coupler [Originally link 4 - Slider] within slot of Driven Slotted Lever [Revised 4th Link] that rocks / oscillates and is identified as Output Motion.

(2) Length of [Coupler ( Originally Link - 3) OR Driving Crank (Revised Link - 2)]  is made shorter than that of  [Crank ( Originally Link - 2) OR  Frame (Revised Link -1)]  in Slotted-lever quick-return mechanism so that the output link, namely, Slotted Lever [Revised link -4] performs oscillation.
