Lecture 15.3 Example of 3rd Inversion of Slider - Crank Mechanism : Oscillating Cylinder Engine Mechanism
3rd Inversion of Slider - Crank Mechanism : Oscillating Cylinder Engine Mechanism
Coupler link 3 is fixed ORFixed Link = Frame =Originally [link3 -Coupler]
Input link = Oscillating (Rocking) Cylinder = Originally [ link 4 - Slider]
Motion - Transfer Link = Piston with Piston Rod = Originally [ link 1 - frame ]
Output Link = Driven Crank = Originally [link 2 - Crank]
Note: Oscillating Cylinder Mechanism is used for example in a bicycle foot operated air pump. Here Motion - Transfer Link OR Coupler Link ( Piston attached to piston rod) is given an input motion (oscillatory motion). This input link [ piston ] slides / reciprocates within Oscillating (rocking) cylinder [ 4th link] that has the same angular velocity as piston [ link - 1].
