7. The purpose of a kinematic diagram, or skeleton diagram, is to simplify a mechanism for kinematic analysis. It removes all irrelevant geometric features and inertial parameters, retaining only the essential features that govern the relative movements, such as the type of pairs and their relative locations.

8. A revolute pair is represented by a small circle in a kinematic diagram. The center of this circle denotes the axis of the revolute pair, and the links are represented by lines connected at this circle.
